There are actually a lot more than five reasons I hate elections but to save space and boredom I will just write about the first five that come to my head. I would like you first to realize these are in no particular order. They also are not meant to attack one particular party, although there will be a few who undoubtedly will be offended. So because no one asked for it, and I have nothing better to write about today here goes.
* Election signs-Nothing says fall in Indianapolis like the beautiful coloring of the leaves during the Autumn season. But every two years there seems to be another way to distinguish the Autumn season, it is the not so pretty red and blue of the current candidates election signs cluttering up the landscapes of people city wide. The annoyance of seeing such well written drivel as "Vote for Blah", or "We Love Blahette", is only to be beaten by the next thing that I hate.........
** Election Commercials-I find these just as if not more annoying than the signs. These commercials take the place of more interesting Vonage and Gieko caveman commercials. Do I really want to hear about Blah not supporting or voting on a bill that has little or nothing to do with me or anyone I know. I guess maybe I am being a little selfish here but damn man it seems every other commercial on the local channels is about politics. We got newsvine, Fox, and CNN for that. Let me watch my high school football games and syndicated Friends in peace........
*** Controversies-The bottom line for me on this is, why should I let one douche bag change my vote? Hell, if that was the case we would never vote would we? It seems every election year each side has its share of "bad politicians" and I have to see that "bad politician's" mug and comments plastered all over the damn place. I also hear from the news networks how said politician and his/her misconduct will change the face of the election. Funny thing for me is I am not voting for this person anyway, usually they are in another state and have nothing to do with the people I am voting for......
**** Electronic Voting Machines-I guess this can go in controversies but I feel it deserves a place of it's own. I keep hearing, and reading about the crookedness perpetrated by the people in charge of these machines. How they have marred the outcome of election the past 6 years. How Bush should not even be in office. I don't know whether any of this is true. I am just so sick of hearing about this. If my guy/gal loses in this election I will just chalk it up as he was out voted. I won't blame voting machines. I mean it is possible that maybe just maybe your guy might have lost because more people liked the other guy. But I might be wrong on that.........
*****Politicians-Last but not least, Politicians. I don't like them. I hate having vote for them. And no matter who I vote for and what party he is in I feel dirty voting for them. The sad fact is, usually I feel I am voting for the lesser of two evils. I personally think you have to be a mad person to even get into politics (no offense Old Fogey), and sometimes even madder to vote for some of the politicians put on the ballot.
So for me the election will be like this. I will vote for the candidate I feel is better choice, then whether they win or lose I will wake up to the same life I had before the election. Not much if anything will change in my life, and I will have the next election in less than 2 years to dread. Funny how that works huh.
