Determined to enact a health-care reform bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi struggled Wednesday to sell the Senate version of the legislation to reluctant Democrats, even as party moderates raised doubts about forging ahead without bipartisan support.

Moderate members of Reid's caucus also urged restraint, interpreting the Massachusetts outcome as a clear signal against advancing such a huge bill along party lines.

"I felt from the beginning that the best way to adopt anything as major as health-care reform was to do it in a bipartisan way," said Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.). "You've got to listen to the message from Massachusetts, and I think it was all about, they want us to work together, they don't want us to do too much at once, and they want to feel that we're listening to them."

The Democrat's need to adopt a common phrase, K.i.S.S. (Keep it Simply Stupid). They don't need a 2,000,000 page health care reform bill. If they want to win the hearts and minds of the American people, they can put out single line pieces of legislation e.g.

H.R. 20010 "insurers cannot deny coverage or claims based preexisting conditions"

H.R. 20011 "as of this date, health insurers are no longer exempt from anti-trust"

H.R. 20012 "allows for the reimportation of prescription drugs from Canada"

H.R. 20013 "reinstates Glass/Steigal legislation"

H.R. 20014 "... will create jobs for ... through ..."

People and maybe even more importantly, the media mouthpieces could understand one liners. Unfortunately by the time the media and the think tanks (lobbies) have filtered anything complicated down to the people's ears, it's turned into something it wasn't or projects misinformation which wasn't the bill.

Speaking towards Sen Liebermann's points and based on his own track record of projected misinformation - For this time in history, with the influence of lobby's and party politics, congress might need to focus on one line pieces of legislation which can't be misinterpreted by congressional idiots. their lobbies or the opposition!!

Hey Droopy Dog, SHUT THE @!$%# UP. Get your insurance industry job lined up because we're sick of listening to your nasal bull@!$%#. It's you and Nelson that sold your asses to the corporate machine and turned off progressives throughout this country. You need to take your ass, lube it up, and take it over to the Republican party. We're sick of listening to you Droopy.

I can see the Democratic Party now!

"Please, Please, Please work with us. We can't take this "On our own" thing anymore!

Total Control, and they still screw it up! Kinda let's you know how dedicated they really are about the concerns of the people. It takes a "Kick-in-the-butt" to get them back to their Faux message that got them elected in the first place!

The "Blame Game" just stopped on Tuesday night! It ain't gonna work anymore!

Wild, isn't it Greg? 6-9 moths ago, the far left faction of the Dem party was transparent about one thing. They had no intention of working with the GOP. Queen Nancy came straight out and said so.

Now...all of a sudden...one man from MA has made Congress sit back and say..."uh, gosh. Maybe this should be a bipartisan effort."

It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Congress has spent the full year concentrating nearly all of their energy and time on ramming though a bill no one wants and in the mean time, Americans are losing their jobs, going into foreclosure, declaring bankruptcy and in extreme cases, winding up on the streets. All because the Dems in Congress are more concerned about Obamas 'legacy' than they are the American people.

Obama to Congressional Republicans Jan 2009..."I Won". Voters in VA, NJ and MA to Obama in November of 2009 and January 2010..."You Lose".

I can't wait to see the total turn around from the Dems. up for election come November.

And the Left will vote for them again, as if they "Really Changed"!

It is gonna be a good year this year. The Political Cartoons are going to be posted all over the place on this back tracking by the Dems.!

Now Barney wants to get rid of' the "Filibuster" and the Dem. Reps. and Senators are all over the news, claiming we need to be more in tune with the people.

What a bunch of hypocrites!

The Dems. are "Swift boating" themselves!

I'm looking forward to the campaign ads. Snippets and quotes of Dems at the height of their narcissism this past year compared to the 'changes' they will be claiming to have made as the elections draw nearer. They will be defeated by their own words.

Yea! Right! If you saw it coming Mr. Kerry, why didn't you stop the madness before it came!

They are running scared!

I didn't see all of Brown's acceptance speech. But it's my understanding that there was a chant going up: "John Kerry's next! John Kerry's next!"

That would be nirvana.

I'm not to sure if the prez got the message tho I saw his interview with Steph. basically blamed it all on Bush again. He didnt do anything wrong it was just the voters were still upset over the last eight years which of course was none of his doing. Unbelievable he still is as arrogant as ever.

Isn't it amazing how out of step he is with the rest of the world? His comment to Steph made zero sense. If the vote in MA was a repudiation of the last 8 years, then why did they vote GOP?

The man is the ultimate example of narcissistic personality disorder. I don't say that to diss him..I really think he has a medically diagnosable case of it.

I still can't get over the "One Election" Changed the entire scope of congress and this administration!

Let's you know how much of a coward the Dems. really are, and they don't believe themselves, in what they are doing with this complete turn around.

Love it!

@ Andy;

I was a bit off on my Glass Half Full Statement in the past. I apologize!

"IT'S OVER FLOWING"! LMAO!

Now, Obama is saying the TARP was deeply offensive, even though he voted for it.

I don't think the cavern is big enough to hold all the people that are now falling into the cavern!

As was stated..it is absolutely amazing that the loss of one Dem seat int he senate could create this much of a firestorm in congress. If it wasn't so sad it would be absolutely hilarious. :)

I work in DC just a stone's throw from capitol hill; I would love to take a walk down just to enjoy the comedy going on even now.

Gives the terms "flip flopping" and "back pedalling" whole new meanings.

Nancy Pelosi . Another example of America's failures . When Nancy dies, she'll have to be screwed into the ground . She's too crooked to be buried in a normal way .

As an addendum to what Rob seeded, this is another laughing moment. If this article says what I think it does, Pres Obama just doesn't get it, or doesn't want to see it.

This bill was turned into an insurance company bailout for conservatives like Ben Nelson. I could care less whether it passes or not.
